Equity Sharing
By providing
practical information and assistance to help organizations implement and
sustain equity-based compensation and broad-based participation programs,
The FED works to enhance economic
and social development through broader ownership and involvement in the
free enterprise system. Each year, Foundation staff meets with hundreds of
entrepreneurs and executives to help them explore strategies for
recruiting, retaining and motivating exceptional people. Through its
one-on-one consulting, the FED helps
its clients evaluate how to use equity compensation to meet their goals.
Through its workshops, conferences and products, the FED helps key executives better understand the details
of employee ownership. Globally, the FED helps governments and private organizations use employee ownership as an
effective social and economic strategy to get more capital into the hands
of many.
History of the Foundation for Enterprise Development
The FED was started in 1986 by Dr. J. Robert Beyster,
founder of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), a
Fortune 500 high technology company and one of the nation's largest and
most successful employee-owned firms. Dr. Beyster believed so strongly
that employee ownership was key to SAIC's success that he thought
others might want to learn about this effective business strategy. Thus,
the Foundation for Enterprise Development was born. Today, the Foundation
not only uses SAIC's example when helping others consider employee
ownership, but also looks to the thousands of businesses that have built
effective employee ownership programs for learning about trends and best
practices.
